Collectable Music
What little nuggets do you have lurking in your collection that are worth a few quid?

2 Standouts for me

1. Nirvana - Bleach Blue Vinyl Waterfront label
2. Radiohead - Drill EP CD 1 of 3000 (first ever release)

I used to have shit loads of Northern Soul back in the 80's... decided I wanted a new car so flogged the lot (after taping them all) and bought a metalic blue mark 3 1.6s Capri... I had it a year before I wrote it off in a brick wall... so I got my just deserts...

Think I got a pristine copy of My Generation (the Who) with shout and shimmy on teh B side... that was worth about £30 back in 1982ish when I bought it... not sure what it's worth now... I just got rid of nearly all my vinyl... went into the record exchange shop and just said give me £100 for the lot... he snapped my hands off I just could not be bothered selling them off piece by piece... had shit loads of Beatles/Small faces/Who/yardbirds/Spencer Davis Group etc...

Had 2 copies of Sultans of Ping - No Sex in the Cineplex several years ago and so sold one of them on Ebay for £30.

Only rare at the time as they had stopped producing it, though no idea if the copy I still have is worth fuck all.

When my mum dies, I'll have Elvis records worth thousands, as she has every original single and album on vinyl he ever produced.

Loads of early MBV, Spacemenn 3, Loop and Spiritualised stuff. All in the £40-70 range. MBV - No place to go 7" currently £110 on Discogs.
Also loads of othwer coloured vinyl that may or may not appreciate in value as time goes by.

I could go on.......

Re: Collectable Music
Depends what you mean by valuable?
I have around a thousand records, so my collection is prob worth around 15k as mostly old, many original Jamaican Reggae and old funk, rock and Acid House.
Off the top of my head my most valuable would be my old Studio One Showcase Album and Neil Young Harvest Moon Original mint, both worth around £100 each. A lot of my old Reggae Singles are worth £20 -30 as are a my original Bowie and e Floyd albums X 15.

Re: Collectable Music
Sold you fool, they will knock those out at £20 - £30 plus a time, and there would be a few there by the sounds of it that are worth more, maybe a lot more.

Pearl Jam ‎– Oct. 22, 2003 - Benaroya Hall
4 x LP

Bought it from the fan club new for about £45 in 2004, now regularly trades for around £1,500

https://www.discogs.com/Pearl-Jam-Oct-22-2003-Benaroya-Hall/release/1079795

Have a few other rarities of theirs that go from £250 to £500ish, depending on what it is.

Discogs is a good place to log your collection and track it's value, based on what the various items have sold on through them.

Collection Value:* Min £7,306.36 Med £10,594.81 Max £15,576.01 for me - was useful for sorting out contents insurance too

Re: Collectable Music
My mum's collection rules. Every time I pop over for a match, I come with just a change of underwear and fill up with another batch of her vinyl. Slowly taking over the library before she pops her clogs, as she's been demanding for years.

We're talking original presses of loads of rare reggae, soul and funk, for the most part.

Fuck monetary value, it's all about the value of the library.

Gutting thing is, we had a lot of workmen in a year or so ago, and only many months after did we notice that loads of them were missing. No way of pointing a finger at the right person, so we have to just suck it up.

Still only realise what's missing when we actually look for it.

I curse the cunt's eyes ears and family, whoever took them.

It's amazing how vinyl has made a comeback. It nearly died out in the shops, but not quite , and now it's going strong. One of the only modern trends I'm happy about.
